Confirel operates its business by utilizing the sugar palm tree, which is a typical natural resource in Cambodia. By respecting the environment and social development, Confirel enables farmers who are involved in the production process to live and work with dignity.

The war destroyed the economic and industrial infrastructure as well as the environment. This led to very small profits being generated by utilizing the sugar palm tree. Therefore, farmers instead turned to lumbering or decided to leave rural areas and move to the city instead to find work.

Confirel has created a new business and sustainable development model. Palm sugar is processed on site, while palm wine and palm vinegar are made from the sap at a different location. The products are made using a combination of traditional and modern methods.

The rural area is at the heart of this work and farmers are the key to this development. The Khmer farmers will receive a decent living while conserving culture and the environment.
